From the Streets of Birmingham to BNE’s Backyard
The Streets have come a long way from the gritty streets of Birmingham, and now they're ready to take over the streets of Australia and New Zealand. Get ready for a night of razor-sharp wit and rhyme - Mike Skinner has entered AUS.
Last on AU shores in 2019, blissful before the pandemic - we’re lucky to be reunited with our favourite garage outfit, The Streets after a looong 4ish years - at least for me anyway, and the anticipated release of ‘The Darker The Shadow, The Brighter The Light’.
The Streets' debut album, "Original Pirate Material," dropped in 2002 and was an absolute game-changer. With tracks like "Has It Come to This?" and "Dry Your Eyes," Skinner brought a fresh perspective to the music landscape. His witty storytelling and unique approach to production resonated with audiences, making him a standout figure in the UK music scene.
Following the success of the debut, The Streets continued to pump out hits like "Fit But You Know It" and "Blinded By the Lights." Mike Skinner's ability to capture the nuances of British culture and urban life set him apart, and his music became a soundtrack for a generation.
Over the years, The Streets released several albums, each showcasing Skinner's evolution as an artist. While the project took a hiatus in the mid-2010s, fans were thrilled when Skinner announced a comeback. Now, in 2024, The Streets are embarking on a Down Under Tour, bringing their infectious beats and Skinner's trademark banter to Australia and New Zealand.
